Marvin Gaye’s “Symphony”
Cut from the sessions of the fabulous Let’s Get It On album from 1973, this great soulful joint was written by Gaye and his longtime Motown buddy, Smokey Robinson with arrangements from Marvin’s trusted arranger David van DePitte. This song was eventually left off the album when it came out but it later got recognition on the re-issue of the album as a two-disc deluxe edition. A 1980s production of the song was found on Marvin’s posthumous 1985 album, Dream of a Lifetime but it’s the original, shown here, that holds something dear to my heart.
ENJOY!
